A New Season

The harvest has begun. I'm picking a fistful of radishes daily, along with arugula, turnip greens, and a few lettuce leaves.

The hounds guard the garden

and I'm distracted from the soil by the scent of nearby Sweetbay Magnolias.
~swoon~

Harvestmen dance atop fleabanes

while a violet leaf sneaks into a patch of Wild Ginger.

The dogs are ~so~ hard to photograph, always sniffing, running, chasing, and rolling in dead things.

Here is sweet Hazel, panting with the first blast of Summer.

And Capo, looking guilty because, frankly, he probably just did something wrong that I haven't detected yet. What a scamp.

Busy week ahead with company coming from all corners. Ta for now!

Perfect looking raddishes, Jain. I remember you posting some last summer, can't believe it's been that long. The rest of your garden looks great...maybe I should get a dog to guard ours! We lost our Westie(Gena) 3 years ago!

Enjoy your company!

Lovely radishes. All of mine got too spicy and hot so I composted them.
I love how nice and tidy your garden looks.

Just look at that face from Capo - it really is so expressive. I wonder if you ever found out what he was up to!

You've a fantastic vegetable plot Jain and those radish just look perfect.

You are really inspiring me to put raised beds in our garden. Ours is such a mess right now and the soil is well...dirt!
I have finally accepted that I will never know what our dogs have been up to and I'm pretty sure I don't want to know.

The radishes look delectable. Seems like the garden is humming along nicely.

I know what you mean about magnolia blossoms diverting your attention. So beautiful and such a wonderful smell.

And the dogs are so cute! That photo of Capo is classic.

You are my inspiration. Despite a hail storm, my cukes are growing. The muskrat may eat them, but I am resigned to that! We have such a small area for sun/garden. Cross your fingers!
