In Which Radishes Show Off

The Mayapples are apple-ing:

A grove of Juneberries outside the back door
The tent is set up by the river in the mid-background. We tried sleeping there last night--the weather was ideal--but noisy graduation parties kept us up till 2:30, when we gave up and came inside.

But I digress.

Cedar Waxwings frequent the shrubs when they're fruiting

Weekly through the window where the green threatens to become oppressive - and it's not even Summer yet!

In the garden
Greens, foreground to back: Winter Lettuce, New Fire Red Lettuce, Spicy Mesclun Mix, Spinach, Red Sails Lettuce, Radishes, Turnips. We likes our salads. :o)

I'm unreasonably proud of our crispy, peppery radishes . . .

If I could bottle one scent in the world to sniff throughout the year, it would be Sweetbay Magnolia flowers. Its native range is generally south of Ohio but it does well here.
Mmmmm

I just read that people living in a green environment are generally feeling much happier and more relaxed compared to people living in a city. So, with your view from the kitchen (even if you find it a bit oppressive) you must feel extremely happy :)
That Waxwing picture is beautiful!

Thank you, Wanda, I would offer you a radish if I could!

Nicole, you're so funny. ;~D

Red Robin, oh yes! A bad day in the country is infinitely better that a great one in the city, in my opinion. I don't take a single day for granted. The Juneberries are even riper today and I hope to get another Waxwing photo before they're all gone.
