A bad week for photos

It was a good week for sightings, though.

A flurry of flapping feathers caught my eye at the bird feeder yesterday. An explosion of Blue Jay, Goldfinch, Chickadee, and House Finches was followed by the striped tail of a Cooper's Hawk bringing up the rear.

Opossum saw a Bald Eagle fly by the kitchen window mid-week. We're seeing eagles pretty regularly now; I hope a couple stay.

We drove to Big Island today and saw 4 Northern Harriers working the prairies.

8 seconds before I took this picture,

there were a dozen or more Wild Turkeys on the far bank.

This is zoomed way in, and two are visible. It's remarkable how quickly such large birds can vanish into the landscape -- great camo, guys!

I worship Winter but Dang! it's been cold. Single digits(F) this weekend, and when it does climb into the teens, brisk winds seem to accompany the temps. Stuck inside, my thoughts naturally turn to Spring. The first seeds arrived on Wednesday, mere days after my order last Sunday.
Unsolicited plug: Tomato Bob got them to me with lightning speed, in packets small enough for the home gardener, along with a handwritten thank you note and a free sample of Golden Egg heirloom tomatoes. It was a small order, my first from the local company, but it won't be my last.

Hi Jain..It is very cold here tonight..10:45 and 8 below zero and supposed to go lower by morning! Brrrr!!
I can see your Turkeys behind the trees showing just enough to make them out!!
The little birds are busy keeping fueled up aren't they and I guess so do the Hawks and Eagles ..that is the food chain I guess!!
Seeds and the thoughts of spring are great but far away at this point for me with over 2ft of snow on the ground!
It is fun and good to think ahead though and have plans of whats to come... : }}
You have a great week...hopefully we will at least get some warmer temps..

I agree. Too cold to want to go out. I don't want to take my camera or my face into this cold. I think I won't even post today. You did well working around it.

Thank you, Nellie! I'm glad I'm not alone in my winter wimpiness.

Hi Jain. I can appreciate your frustration at the lack of photos. No snow here just dark grey and damp and very little to focus on! Hopefully it will get better soon for all of us. FAB.

Your support is appreciated, Frank! Yes, experience tells me that things will get better.

I tried to capture photos of turkeys as well, Jain, but haven't thought of seeds yet!

Wanda, O has seen the Turkeys again; I asked him to carry a camera in his pocket when he goes out to feed while I'm at work but, so far, no luck!
There's plenty of time for seeds. I can't plant most of them for a couple of months but it's nice to have them on the shelf.

Hi, Jain--You may think it a bad week for photos but your writing made me picture the turkeys in the snow and the eagles. Winter is picturesque even where (maybe especially where) it is cold.
I liked your "8 seconds before"! Isn't that always the case!
