Wondrous Wednesday

Finally!
The Bloodroot is up!

The river is up, too. Bare trees were beautifully sunlit against a stormy sky.

Turn your speakers on for this.

The babies are hungry! I've mothered orphaned Raccoons over the years and this sound really brings out latent maternal instincts. The only thing better than rearing Raccoons is knowing their mom is taking care of them and they'll grow up healthy, strong, and well-equipped to make their way in the world.

Hi Jain.. Finally Huh!!
Love seeing plants pushing there way through the leaf covered forest, but not water covering it!
That sound brings back memories of the Raccoon who had her babies in the hollow apple tree in my yard last year!
I had a great time posting that because I could take picture into the hollow ...and came out with my hand in tack...lol
Hope your spring gets better and better for you !!

Oh, the suspense was killing me as the camera panned up that tree!

Ahhhh...those babies sound so cute! I bet your are glad the mama is taking care of them, though! (I saw Bloodroot this past Saturday in Adams County!)

Grammie, once you hear a baby Raccoon squalling, you never forget it, eh? Thanks for the good Spring wishes.

Greentangle, I'm sorry there was no payoff at the end of the video. Perhaps another day...

Kelly, yes, I'm very glad the babies have a 4-legged mom instead of a 2-legged. Year after year, I'm always surprised at how much earlier things bloom a bit to the south of us. You'd think I'd learn.

p.s. loved the vid of the raccoon chattering.

a few weeks ago your racoon city cousins provided some morning entertainment - here's a link to a slide show of their antics you might enjoy!

I bet the bloodroot and Dutchman's Breeches are all in bloom now, Jain. I've been very busy working outside, taking walks and photos of Spring! I've never heard baby raccoons before, even though they are all around us!

Welcome to Bankside, Kimy! I'm delighted to make your acquaintance. I was delighted, too, by your raccoon escapades!

Wanda, funny you should mention flowers, I'm about to post today's right now.
Baby Raccoons can make quite a racket. I raised some in a apartment once, a place that didn't allow "pets." They scream bloody murder when they're hungry and I learned to feed very fast to avoid eviction!
