I wasn't sure what I was looking at. There was a little blob of a thing on the underside of an American Chestnut leaf.
When I got the photo uploaded, I still wasn't sure. I thought I might have to bother my newfound friends at bugguide.net again.
I'm still not sure what is going on here, why a spider would hunker down on a leaf and remain there. Perhaps more observation will provide a clue.
But I won't be here to do it. I'm headed north on an adventure in the morning and may not have access to post for a couple of weeks. I hope to have some tales and a couple of presentable pictures when I return.

REALLY neat! I thought it was a snail at first. It's also great that you've got some American chestnuts. And, finally, you've always got interesting images and commentary, so don't stress on your adventure! Have a great time!
....and I thought it was a tiny snail.
My unidentified photo was an oak gall...really different from the usual ones I am more familiar with.
Well that's about the strangest—and coolest!—spider image ever. Never saw anything like it! Have a great time (UP?) take plenty of images, enjoy your trip, be safe, and I hope you sleep.
