Yesterday, I saw other big birds in the sky. I didn't have my camera with me at the time so this will have to do.
A large flock of Turkey Vultures was circling over the river on February 1st. Typically, they don't come back from the southern U. S. or southern South America until early- to mid-March. It's been a strange season, indeed.

Even from a distance a Bald Eagle is magnificent!
I thought those turkey vultures were a new set of postage stamps. That would be awesome.
Hi Jain...hahaha...the Vulture captions ...
How wonderful to have the Eagle nest and them near by to see that is fantastic...I imagine the no pasking is for that very reason to keep people from disturbing them !!
Distance is fine with me!!

Our Turkey Vultures (and Black Vultures, for that matter) don't leave for the winter here in the Mid-Atlantic Piedmont. My staff picks-up road-killed deer as a favor to the local municipalities and we scatter them in a "body farm" to decompose. The vultures feast all winter. I've seen 40 or more circling and landing--pretty impressive!
Very nice pictures, and no apologies are needed. I've seen bald eagles in the air, but I have never seen a nest. Impressive.
And I like the turkey vulture picture, too. Awesome indeed, and amazing to watch as they float on the thermal updrafts.
The nest looks enormous...would like to watch them build one!
Pretty neat to find an eagle's nest
