Snowless

A snowless winter? Probably not. But I worry about such things in months like this. From Portland to Portland, Las Vegas to Chicago, there's snow everywhere but here. It was in the single digits (F) earlier this week and, until the ice storm hit, bone dry. Now that it's 66F/19C, rain is falling and the river is rising.
The organic corn across the road was planted later than other fields for some reason. I looked, but never saw any ears. All the other crops were harvested months ago, as was the perimeter of this field, but these stalks persist.

When there's a particularly dramatic sky off to the west, it's worth a trip down the driveway for a long look. The cornstalks rustle eerily when the wind blows.

The river changes daily, from frost to ice to water and back around again. Here, the eagle moved on and the goose carries on, clinging to the last bit of ice bar before it melts away. I'm surprised it held the goose's weight as long as it did.

Your posts are a wonderful glimpse to your life. I love that you're surrounded by nature and have a deep appreciation for it (except the mosquitoes, I guess). LOL. I'll be back! : )
