Snow fell Saturday, not a lot, but enough to provide some traction on the sheet of ice that blankets the yard.

Snow on Balsam Fir

The birds in the yard were atwitter to find some food that wasn't encrusted in ice.
Movement caught my eye at the kitchen window and a White-tailed Deer posed for me.
A few minutes later, Lily barked and barked. When I went to investigate, 11 more were walking through the woods with this one. The barking spooked them before I could grab my camera.

We've had so much snow this year. We had a skunk out in the afternoon this week. I like the photo with the tips of your skis.

Hi Jain..We had Snow late Saturday that turned to sleet and rain...messy.
The deer is so pretty standing there in the snow, and that cute Fox Squirrel!!
I worry about our deer here with all the snow so deep, I don't know how they make it!!
Hey have a great week !!
The snow really accents the red in the fox squirrel! He certainly has some long sharp looking claws
I love the ski photo! That looks like so much fun. I wish snow down here would hang around long enough for that.
And the deer... There's something so peaceful about seeing deer in snow.
Nellie, a skunk! We’ve yet to see our first this season. I’m not looking forward to it. . . with a one- and two-year old pup who have yet to make their first encounter!
Grammie, I worry about the critters, too. I was glad the ice melted off the weed seeds so quickly but everything else is still under a blanket of ice and it must be hard for many.
Wanda, I didn’t notice the claws at first but you’re right. I guess that explains how they can tightrope walk over the tiniest twigs and I can’t!
Jason, I shuffle more than ski, to tell the truth, and ice and wind chills don’t make for many good ski days, but I love being out in it.
Deer do a lot of damage here but it’s not their fault we’ve turned the landscape upside down; I’m amazed that such large animals can make do with so little.
Hi Jain. Just catching up ... seems you have experienced a chunk of bad weather. Interesting to see the evidence of what passed through.
Hi, Frank. Many in the States had it "worse" than we did, with very heavy snowsfalls, but this year's ice has been no fun. I actually would have preferred a good ol' fashioned blizzard.
