"Kiss me, Lady, you won't be sorry."
"Ha," I said. "Do I look as if I were born yesterday? It's frogs who turn into princes, not American Toads." And I walked away.

O snapped Ghost Deer and friends walking through the back yard.

Virginia Creeper climbing up the trunk of a Honeylocust. I learned the very hard way, not to wear soft-soled shoes in Honeylocust territory.

Wild Hyacinths appeared along the river where we've never seen them before. We wondered if they came by bird or flood. They made me think of my favorite Leonard Cohen song, Take This Waltz.

I have a "don't kiss, don't tell" policy here on the riverbank. Toads definitely aren't in the running, though.

Honey locust will make you think about body armor immediately. I can well imagine what your foot experience must have been, having once rode horseback too close to a honey locust and then spent the better part of an hour picking bloodied spikes from my knee and thigh.

I WOULD kiss a toad over a repeat performance of that anytime!

Omigod, it's so painful. (The thorns, not the toad licking!)

I so relate to your blog...the subjects that you capture with your camera's eye also capture my eye...except for the ghost deer...have not seen one among our deer visitors.

I'm stopping by because The Grizzled Scribe had recommended you on his blog. ANd I can see why. I amsucha nature lover, and I could post about it and read about it all day. Such a shame the phone and the bills and exercise calls... !
