I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

I hoped to get a fabulous photo of the beautiful Mackinac (say MACK i naw) Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere, but it was drizzling with high wind warnings so after a quick snap, I put both hands on the wheel, and then...

I was in the UP!

My destination, Marquette, is on the distant horizon. Lake Superior's typically frigid surface temperature broke record highs this summer. That's a bad thing, but I have to admit it made for comfortable shore walking.

It was a long drive, 11 hours, my back was sore and I was tired, but I had to visit McCarty's Cove before settling in for the night.
