There are plenty of green leaves still on the trees but there's gold on the ground, too.

I always stop by my favorite American Hornbeam to admire its sinewy bark and could easily have missed this superbly camouflaged spider.

It's a bumper crop of Persimmons! Most fell to drought rather than ripeness, but they're alllllmost ready, and a few cool nights should make them palatable to Raccoons and Opossums.

My October garden looks better than my summer garden ever did. Cukes are an inch long and still a gamble in these ever-shortening days, but there will be enough basil for another batch of pesto, and greens for a few more salads.

Beautiful shots. I have bought a new home and have cukes and pumpkins. Close to 0 C. last night (32 F.) and don't expect much more. I shall look to you for inspiration next spring!
Cheers from Cottage Country !
Love the spider pic! We picked our last basil today for our sundried tomato pesto. Our cilantro is still going strong so Steve made 2 batches this weekend and we are going to enjoy a tasty salad from the garden for dinner. I'm hoping we still have a bit till frost...
Thanks, Jenn, I love what I've seen of your new place so far. We should have a couple more weeks till frost here.
Jennifer & Steve, I wish I could ID the spider! There are too many look-a-likes in my guide. When this happens, I name them myself, so this is now a Hornbeam Spider. :o)
I still have herbs to dry, lots to do before first frost. Happy fall gardening!
Loved seeing the Persimmons, wish I knew where some were close to me!
The spider proves you have good eyesight, Jain!
