Golden bankside
Sycamore crown
Last week's persimmon bounty was carried off by Raccoons, Red Squirrels, Opossums, and who-knows-who-else. May they poop seeds that sprout and grow throughout the valley.
Quite a crop remains in the treetops, the most they've ever produced, by far.

I'm glad to know someone else is mystified by asters, too. :-)
It's golden here along the river. No persimmon trees close, though—drat it!
I like the header shot, BTW.
Welcome back, Jain! Good to have you posting from Ohio again (not that Michigan wasn't beautiful, too). While my persimmon trees did well this year, they produced nothing like yours did. Also, "my" wildlife don't seem to carry the fruit away like yours do. I never notice persimmon volunteers; even the trees that are producing were planted.
Wish a few of those seeds had traveled my way years ago, then I might have persimmons now.
I posted asters too, we do that 'same' posting often!
Looks super up there Janet! Soaping is postponed a bit due to our new cat, the looming house purchase, etc. I would love to have you gals to our place once my hours cut back too. I want to make a big pot of soup and some homemade bread to top off the event so wait for it! :)
Thanks, Grizz. I looked up the range for persimmons in Ohio on the DNR site and found this comical comment:
"Aside from being slow-growing and with the potential in heavy fruiting years to create a sticky mess at the bottom of female trees, it has no liabilities." Ha ha, as if a sticky mess would be a liability!
Hi Scott, as much as I love Michigan, it's good to be back home. I'd hate to miss the changes here.
Our trees were planted, too. With 3-8 seeds per fruit, 1,000 or more seeds may be carried off by critters. I hope a few of them sprout!
Wanda, I saw your lovely asters and just now got around to commenting there. I noticed quite a few asters by Ohio bloggers -- they're the showiest flowers out at the moment.
Jennifer & Steve, I haven't forgotten about our soap date but understand there's a lot on your plate at the moment. I'm looking forward to it and we'll make it happen when the time is right!
Our persimmons are still tree bound. The tree is next to our driveway so we get some good night spottings. Your asters are such sweet ones.
...I need to start looking for persimmons. I wanted to plant one in my yard and then forgot about it (although with this drought, it's probably a good thing I didn't--next year!).
Looking through past posts....Wetmore Pond looks beautiful. I love the rockiness, and your photos of the pitcher plant are gorgeous!
Beyond, it would be fun if our trees were closer to the house. Critters are probably scampering up and around all night long.
Kelly, we have 7 or more trees and I think only 1 is female as only 1 has fruited so far. Be sure to get at least a male and female, and good luck!
I was looking through my Wetmore Pond pictures last night, it's such a pretty place. Glad you liked the pics!
