Open

It's lovely to live amongst the trees, but the shade becomes a bit oppressive after a few months and I'm always thrilled to see through the trees and into the sky.

Things hidden become visible when leaves fall, like this Fox Squirrel dray.
The golden spangles to the right are Ashleaf Maple keys, a staple of our squirrels.

Last week brought frosts and a couple of hard freezes. The greenhouse is working.
The photo was taken after harvesting much of the oak leaf and new fire red lettuce, right before a forecast of 27F (-3C). It will be interesting to see if there's any new growth in cold temps and diminishing daylight.

Your greens look very healthy! I know what you mean by things becoming visible...the morning sunrises are partially hidden here, by the leaves of summer...plus I can see more of the sky from my windows now!

Hi Jain... I agree...there are surprises to be found when the leaves are gone..keeps things a little interesting anyway!!
Hope your little greenhouse works out. Cold weather crops do pretty good but 27F. you never know!!

I was startled a bit when I went out early in the morning a few days ago and I could see the sky and the driveway wasn't pitch black. Oh, yeah, the leaves have fallen...
