We thought we had a 3-legged Striped Skunk, but upon closer inspection, her fourth leg, the right front, is damaged and she holds it up as she walks. Here she's filling up on sunflower seeds but O took her some dog treats anyway, and took this picture. Skunks have the prettiest faces.
"Hey, buddy, don't you know I'm a skunk?!"

The Ghost Deer of 'Possum Valley makes a reappearance. Click to zoom and s/he is in the middle of the three.

We didn't have any Virginia Bluebells till we tore down an outbuilding nearly 20 years ago. They popped up the year after the building was razed -- seeds must have been dormant in the soil for 20 or 30 years. Now we have a healthy patch, they're spreading, and we're transplanting them around the yard. What could be prettier?

Gotta have some bluebells here! I have the perfect shady bank for them. I'm going to see about collecting some seed from a huge patch I know upstream.

Wow—a white deer and a gimpy skunk. AND BLUEBELLS! How could you want better posts. Great!

Ha, some days are so exciting, it's nearly unbearable!

Come to think of it, I don't recall seeing bluebell seeds. We've had great luck with transplants, though. If you collect seed, let us know how it goes. (Or if you can get a spadeful when no one's looking, so much the better!)

Wow, never saw a deer that white. Is it an albino? Hope your garden isn't haunted! The skunk indeed has a pretty face. Your bluebells look a bit different from ours, bigger somehow. Must be your fertile soil.

Red Robin, I don't know the science enough to know if the deer is albino or leucistic or something else altogether, and I didn't get any closer than in the photo, but s/he's white, for sure! Do albino animals haunt gardens? I hadn't heard that!

I looked up Dutch bluebells and yours appear to be a little different -- is this yours?

No, I don't think albinos will haunt you! I meant I hope it isn't really a ghost. And yes, that are our little blue bells. Don't see them in Holland much, but Ireland is covered with them in early May. They make beautiful blue carpets in the woodlands.

I saw a photo of a forest floor covered with them and it was breathtaking!

I've seen a ghost deer. It was at an ex-boyfriend's house. It was our first date and he told me about this deer. I didn't believe him! It would come into his parent's field with their horses. He was 40 years old, lived in their basement (I was between husbands!) and he took care of their animals for them.

Saw it with my own eyes.

Of course, he was the skunk and I dumped him. :-)

Excellent getting a shot of yours!

Jenn, oh, funny, and thank you!

Jain-

I've never photographed a skunk, glad to see you didn't get too close. That is quite a story about your virginia bluebells as well. They do spread quickly. They're one of my favorite spring wildflowers.

My mate photographed this skunk, so I was never in any danger!

Bluebells are among my favorites, too, the colors are always changing which makes them especially fun to watch.
