Bloodroot

Named for the rich red juice in its stem and roots, I can't imagine tearing one out of the ground.

What an arty looking plant, it's beautiful! Why on earth would one think of tearing it out of the ground?

In the past, it was used as a dye and an herbal remedy -- still is by some, I'm sure.
