Leeks! I knew they were out there but I was looking in the wrong place. The leaves and bulbs are a tasty combination of onion and garlic flavors. I long to pull them all and play with them in the kitchen (leek pizza! sautéed leeks and ‘shrooms! potato leek soup!), but I’ll content myself with a nip or two of leaf and hope the little colony will grow and spread.

Hail came down with little warning last evening, not impressively large but fast and furious. It was too warm to last but when all was said and done, 0.88” of much needed precipitation had fallen. (Yes, we love our rain gauge.)

I was afraid the Bloodroots would be damaged but they’re fine. Notice the very tiny fly!

I love leeks, very tasty. One of my favorite recipies is of a leek/cheese/pine nut-pie, delicious!
The bloodroots look beautiful.

Still haven't seen a bloodroot here in the usual places—or a leek. It's cold today, but sunny. And I guess expected to get colder next week…with the possibility of snow. Yikes! Ohio in the spring…

Red Robin, leesk/cheese/pine nuts sound delish!

Scribe, snow's on its way here. Any flowers not yet up with be hunkering down for a while.
